Professional Affiliations

The National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) hosts national and regional conferences for students and staff that are involved in campus activities. As a professional staff member, I volunteered for two years on the NACA Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference Committee. I've also twice served on NACA Showcase Selection Committees.

As part of the conference committee, I was in charge of Diversity Initiatives. Below are some of the contributions I made to the committee.

 
 

Diversity Desserts - NACA Mid-Atlantic Conference - Oct 16, 2009
 In the past, NACA tried to host a Diversity Networking opportunity during the Friday night dinner time. Unfortunately, this was always a "dinner on your own" for the campuses so the Diversity components was never attended.

The dinner on your own time always poses issues with schools not getting back in time to the conference for the next showcase. In an effort to make an interactive diversity experience, while offering an incentive to schools to get back to the conference promptly, I created "Diversity Desserts" which were served during the Friday night showcase. The desserts were served with an informational card that explained the cultural context of the desserts.

 

 
Grace Guide - NACA Mid-Atlantic Conference - Fall 2009
 The Guide to Resources for Annual Campus Events is a publication that is produced each fall in the Mid-Atlantic region for the colleges and universities that participate in the NACA conference. The publication lists various campus events, along with pricing, for most holidays, special days and annual campus dates. I produced the 2009 NACA Mid-Atlantic GRACE Guide.
