PSU Schuylkill sets safe Trick-or-Treat

Penn State Schuylkill’s Adult Student Organization is hosting a safe trick-or-treat night on Wednesday, October 28 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on the Mall Walk that leads through the center of campus. County residents are invited to bring their children, under 12, to the campus for free candy and activities. This is the inaugural experience for what is anticipated to become an annual event.

Schuylkill Haven, PA (Penn State) October 22, 2009 – The Adult Student Organization at Penn State Schuylkill is hosting a safe trick-or-treat night on Wednesday, October 28 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Families are invited to dress in costume and bring their children (under 12) to enjoy this free event on the Mall Walk that leads through the center of campus.

Nearly two dozen student organizations, faculty and staff groups will be distributing candy to attendees. There will also be the opportunity to participate in a variety of age-appropriate activities. The idea for this event came from Shawn Cicero, president of the Adult Student Organization.

Not only is Cicero a student at Penn State Schuylkill, but he is also a Schuylkill County resident and father so he knows the importance of having events that are family friendly in the community. His group has been working hard to make sure that this is a successful event. Cicero said, I feel this event will build stronger relations within the community. It is a great opportunity to show off our various clubs and organizations while adding some fun to the Halloween holiday. I would like to see this event run annually. I want people to know they are always welcome here at the Schuylkill Campus.”

Mark your calendars for next Wednesday evening. Penn State Schuylkill’s Safe Trick-or-Treat night will make an excellent stop for your family on their way to the Orwigsburg Halloween Parade.
